Seminole resident, Jerry L. Mathews passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at his home in Seminole, Oklahoma at the age of 63. Jerry was born on September 13, 1947 in Roswell, New Mexico to Lloyd Sires ( now deceased) and Margaret ( Smith) Tennant of San Marcos, Texas. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1965 to 1968 in Germany and the Phillipines during the Vietnam War. He was a police officer for many years in New Mexico and also Seminole County 6. Jerry married Alice Noon Mathews on June 21, 1980 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she preceded him in death on September 6, 2007. Jerry leaves to cherish his memories; three sons, Spirit " Danny " Sires of Seminole, Oklahoma, Yul Kirk Whitson of Durant, Oklahoma, and Roger Brontley of Sherveport, La.; Two brothers Raymond Sires of WAco, Texas and Johnny Clifton of McComb, Mississippi, three sisters; Donna Dunaway of Austin, Texas, Nancy Cox of Ector, Texas and Rhonda Ates of Cedar Park, Texas and his Mother Margaret ( Smith) Tennant of San Marcos, Texas. He was preceded by his son Gary Whitson. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation services will follow. Military Honors will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, November 28, 2010 by the Tinker Air Force Base Honor Guard in the Funeral Home Chapel.
