Jerry Glen Hughes, Tecumseh resident, passed away Friday, December 14, 2007, at Unity North Health Center in Shawnee at the age of 60.rnHe was born May 7, 1947 in Tupelo, MS to Henry Aaron and Eulala (Fowler) Hughes.rnJerry graduated from Sapulpa High School.rnHe went to work for the Tulsa Police Dept. and was an officer there for several years. He also was the Chief of Police at Guthrie Police Dept.rnJerry later went to work for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and was there for 10 years. He was on the first Lake Patrol for Kaw Lake near Ponca City. Jerry retired from the patrol due to health reasons.rnJerry was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner and served in the US Marine Corps.rnJerry married Mary Ann (Birks) in 1985 in Sherman, TX.rnHe is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Hughes of the home; one daughter, Whitney Hughes Tero and her husband Dan of Edmond; rnstep-daughter, Danielle Brauer and her husband Tim of Noble;rnone sister, Myralee Hughes Clary of Wagoner, OK and David Clary; rnthree brothers, Daniel Hughes & his wife Karen of Tulsa, Mark Hughes & his wife Joanna of Weir, KS and Henry Jefferson Hughes & his wife Deborah of Tulsa; rntwo grandchildren, Morgan Hughes Tero and Avery Grace Brauer; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. rnHe was preceded in death by his parents.rnMemorial services will be held on Monday, December 17, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa.rnIn lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospital.rnrn Funeral Information: December 16, 2007, 2:00 AM
