Seminole resident, Jeffrey Heath “Hoghead” Reed, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024 in Seminole.
Heath, the son of Jerry and Betty (Richardson) Reed, was born April 10, 1971, in Norman. He graduated with the Seminole High School class of 1989, having completed all thirteen years of his education with perfect attendance. After high school, he continued his education, first attending Seminole State College, and then Oklahoma State University. Heath grew up and lived in Seminole, but he loved to spend his summers in the mountains of Ruidoso, NM. He loved catering for his friends, had a passion for racing quarter horses and being around family. A former trainer, Heath saddled 137 winners of more than 4.2 million dollars, including All American Derby winner Llano Teller, Remington Park Invitational Championship winner Louisiana Senator, and New Mexico Classic Derby winner, DM Hot Hot Hot to name only a few. He also enjoyed attending the National Finals Rodeo and riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycles.
Heath had a great sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone he could. He loved his nephews and nieces like they were his own children and felt that family was the most important thing. Heath would bring everyone together and was loved by many. To know him was to love him. From his time raising horses, he has gained many friends that are now family. Heath opened Hog’s BBQ to provide a place for the community to get together and give back to those in need.
He was preceded in death by his best friend, his grandmother, Billie Richardson.
Heath is survived by his parents, Jerry and Betty Reed; a brother, Kerry Reed, of Shawnee; nephew, Jerrod Kash Reed, of Seminole; nieces, Keeley Reed, of Edmond, and Karsyn Reed, of Shawnee; a great nephew, Kace Reed, of Seminole; uncles and aunts, Ronnie and Tommie Richardson, of Seminole, Richard and Trecia Richardson, of Arkansas, Johnny Bateman, of Shawnee; great aunts, Virginia Burrus, of Sapulpa, Cleo Pensoneau, of Lebanon, Tennessee, Jaunell Moses, of Oklahoma City, and Delores McMillion, of Seminole; a host of cousins, along with many other family members and too many friends to name.
