Jean Sims

Rebecca “Jean” (Tucker) Sims, 58 year old longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at her home in Seminole.  She was born October 6, 1957 in Monahans, Texas to parents, Jack Tucker and Annie (Broyles) Tucker. Following her graduation from North Lamar High School in Paris, Texas, Jean went on to attend Bauder Fashion College in Arlington, Texas.  She also attended the Paris, Texas Junior College. On March 1, 1980 Jean married Steve Sims at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Reno, Texas.  The couple then moved to Seminole County, Oklahoma 35 years ago from Paris, Texas. When the couple moved to the Seminole area, Steve opened his own auto body shop, “Steve Sims Auto Body and Glass Shop” and "S 1 Equipment".  Jean was always helping her husband, Steve run the business.  Jean would help him with everything from keeping the books to deliveries.  She would even travel long distances with Steve to deliver, "BadBoy Lawn Mowers".  Jean was truly a hard worker.  Jean often volunteered to help Steve with deliveries because she absolutely loved to travel, for business or pleasure.  She loved her family with all that she had, she was always quick with a smile and to show a photo when asked about her family. Jean was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Earlsboro, Oklahoma. Jean went to work for BancFirst in Seminole where she worked for more than 20 years. Then in 2007 Jean went to work for Security State Bank where she worked as a bank officer until her passing. Jean loved her work at the Bank.  Her co-workers were her extended family from whom she found great support and love from during her courageous battle with cancer.  Jean worried about her family more than herself during her illness.  Jean was truly a person who gave more than she expected in return and loved more than others could even imagine loving.  To know her was to love her. Jean is survived by her husband of 36 years, Steve Sims of the home in Seminole, two daughters, Tricia (Sims) Ethridge and her husband, John of Las Vegas, Nevada, Stephanie (Sims) Taylor and her husband, Zack of Seminole, Oklahoma, one brother, Dale Tucker of Tulsa, Oklahoma, one sister, Nancy (Tucker) Coulthard and her husband, Delvin of Albany, Wisconsin, three grandchildren, Carson Ethridge, Madison Ethridge, and Alexis Taylor, and a host of other family and dear friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 15, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma with Faith Hospice Chaplain, Tommy Azlin officiating the service.  Interment will follow at Little Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
