Jean (Phillips) Ryan

Jean Ryan, longtime Bowlegs resident, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023 in Oklahoma City.  Jean was born on October 14, 1957 in California to Claude Richard Phillips and Ethel R. (Mayo) Phillips. She grew up in California and moved with her family to Oklahoma at the age of 13. Jean married Gary Ryan on June 30, 1973 at First Baptist Church in Bowlegs, OK.

Jean enjoyed reading and going to garage sales.  She loved to spoil her grandkids and great grandkids and any other children she came across.

Jean is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gary Ryan of the home; two daughters, Christie James and husband Billy of Earlsboro and Jennifer Brashears and husband, Jerry of Bowlegs; brother, Chester Phillips of Bowlegs; sister, Christine Siminski and husband, Rich of New York; four grandchildren, Abby Brashears, Chris and Bobbi Hale, Ashley Hysten and Lacy Hasbell; five great grandchildren, Colton Hale, Benton Hale, Eli Hysten, Ivy Hysten and Aria Hasbell and many other family and friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Phillips and father, Claude Phillips.

There will be a Celebration of Jean’s life held Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Temple of Praise Church in Seminole.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
