Wilma Jean Hunter was born April 1, 1934, to Wilburn and Willie Laura Jamison of Utica, Oklahoma. She died in Midwest City Regional Hospital at 6:00am, March 23, 2009, and went home to be with Jesus and reunite with many relatives and friends who had gone on before. She was preceded in death by both her father and mother.rnrnIn 1958, Jean was married to Dr. Cal Hunter. After eight years of clinical practice in Minco, Oklahoma, Cal felt called into the ministry and gave up his private practice to pastor churches throughout Oklahoma. Those churches include Eastside Baptist Church, Marlow, two years; First Baptist Church, Tipton, eleven years; First Baptist Church, Mooreland. rnrnFollowing his tenure at FBC, Mooreland, Cal served as Director of Missions for Northwestern Baptist Association five years before retiring in 1991. Wherever Pastor Cal served, Jean also served with all her heart and soul. rnrnUpon retiring from full-time ministry, Cal and Jean moved to a farm in Prague, Oklahoma, where they lived for 17 years before moving to Shawnee last year. In retirement, Cal served four years as bi-vocational pastor of Wolf Baptist Church, Seminole, and then served in that position for eleven years at Highway Baptist Church, Little. rnrnJean was a loving, faithful, and dedicated wife and mother of two boys: Mike and Rickey.rnWhile the boys were young, Cal and Jean were always involved in their school activities. The family also spent a great deal of quality family time, camping and boating on Oklahoma lakes in the summers.rnrnJean was something of an artist. She loved decorating the family home and was recognized by many as a talented and skilled interior decorator. She was often sought out to advise and assist others in decorating their homes, and nothing pleased her more than to be called upon to decorate church facilities. rnrnJean loved the Lord and taught a Sunday school class in just about every church in which they served. Her first love in church ministries, however, was missions. She could always be counted on each year to promote successful Lottie Moon and Home Mission Offerings. Additionally, Jean and Cal were afforded opportunities to visit and engage in mission trips to Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand. Also, on two separate occasions, the Hunters visited Germany, Belgium, and Israel.rnrnJean loved her church. Shortly before she died, Cal caught her staring into space and asked what she was thinking. She weakly replied, ?Church.?rnrnJean is survived by her husband, Cal; two sons: Mike and wife, Cindy, of Owasso, and Rick and Carol, of Prague.rnrnShe is also survived by two grandsons: Jasen Hunter and wife Christy; Jon Hunter and Kim, both living in Atlanta; two granddaughters, Mendi Smiley and husband Chad, of Norman; Kathryn, a freshman at Oklahoma Baptist University, and six great grandchildren. rnrnShe also leaves one brother, Stanley Jamison and wife Joan, of Midwest City; two sisters, Alma Holland and husband John, of Choctaw; Shirley Sexton and husband J.T. of Konawa; and one adopted sister, Holly Harrison and husband Pat, of Comanche, Ok. She will be missed by many loving friends from far and near. rnrnCal reports: ?I have ministered to many folk on their death bed, but I want you to know I have never witnessed anyone who faced death with such equanimity, such total surrender to the will of God. She died peacefully, her bed surrounded by her family holding her hands, weeping, yet rejoicing, as the end of her struggles in this life came to an end, and she is now home with the Lord and all the heavenly hosts. No more cancer. No more pain. No more hurt of any kind. What a beautiful and glorious life awaits us if we truly know the Lord. God bless you, my dear, dear, sweet Jean, until we meet again.?rn Funeral Information: March 25, 2009, 1:00 AM
