J.C. Simpson, Jr.

Pastor JC Simpson Jr. was the 7th child born to JC Simpson Sr. and Virginia Dial Simpson on July 12, 1955 in Seminole, Oklahoma. JC was called home on Thursday, June 25, 2020.

JC attended Pleasant Grove from grade school to high school and graduated in 1974. He also attended Seminole Junior College for a little while.

JC married Diane Carter on July 18, 1999 and she passed away on September 9, 2001.

At an early age JC united with the St. Matthew Baptist Church under the direction of Rev. Freddie Griffis, Rev. B.G. Renfro and Elder E.G. Bert, he then moved on as he grew up. He later joined Lord’s Community Church under Pastor Fred Morrison. He was also under the direction of Pastor Jim Moreland at Lord’s Community Church for approximately 40 years where he served as preacher and Sunday school teacher.

JC worked numerous jobs; he worked at Seminole Motors, Wrangler, BFI and his last job for over 20 years was at Wolverine in Shawnee.

JC enjoyed the Boley and McAlester rodeos and was in Seminole Round-Up Club for many years following his father’s legacy.

He played basketball (32) and also baseball, where he earned the nickname “Suitcase” and loved his restaurants. JC loved preaching and sharing the Word. He enjoyed talking about his family, job, etc.

JC was preceded in death by his wife; Diane, mother and father; Virginia Dial Simpson and JC Simpson Sr., sister; Vivian Farris, Mary Hardiman, Sophia Quorles, Doris Simpson Hubbard, Rose White, Eva Mae Simpson Cooper, Shirley Jo and Nancy Ann, brothers; James Carl Simpson and Curtis L. Simpson.

He leaves to cherish his only sister; JoAnn Simpson Tubbs and husband Jerry L. Tubbs, stepdaughter; Karla Banks (Forest), step grandchildren; Tierra Jones Forrest Banks II, Oleseah Banks, Gabrielle Banks, Boston Banks, Arielle Banks, stepson; Carey Carter, step grandson; Ashton Carter and a whole host of nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces, cousins, friends, and loved ones.

The Homegoing Celebration for JC will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 3, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma. Jimmy Moreland and Reverand Wilmer Cooper will officiate. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Flower bearers will be Doretha Gordon-Simpson, Ricki R. Simpson, Kelia Hardiman, Chanell Long, Lakisha Conley, Nicole Farris, Lori Pyle, Jackqueline Attafuah and Diana Fry. Pallbearers will be Joel J. Simpson, Marcus Simpson Cooper, D'Vante Barkus, Gerald Bruner, Malcolm P. Robbins, Kieth Farris, Jason Farris and Nigel Farris. Honorary bearers will be Gerald Brannon, Casey Phillips, Hayword McGregor, Randy Lehman, Nathan Winrow, Duane Nance, Ceolus Johnson, Mike Brown, James Griffis and David Jones.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
