Jaycee Jo Goss Elliott

May 31, 1985 — July 7, 2018

Jaycee Jo (Goss) Elliott, 33 year old former Maud, Oklahoma resident and current Poteau, Oklahoma resident, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, July 7, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  She was born May 31, 1985 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to parents Gregg and Joan “Joanie” (Kitchens) Goss. What a blessing God gave us!  Jaycee was born with a congenital heart condition, having her first surgery at just 3 months old.  She went on to face 30 more surgeries and heart procedures throughout her life.  Jaycee was determined that this was not going to define her life. Jaycee graduated from Perkins-Tryon High School in 2004 and went on to earn her degree in communications and marketing from the University of Oklahoma in December 2008. While attending OU she was a member of Theta Sorority.  Since she had spent so much time in the Children's Hospital OU Medical Center, she was also very dedicated to two special organizations, “Mended Little Hearts” and “Camp Cavett”. On March 14, 2009 Jaycee married the love of her life, Travis Ryan Elliott, at the Oklahoma State Capital. The couple made their home in Poteau, Oklahoma where they were members of Cross Community Church in Poteau. Jaycee was a homemaker or as she would laughingly call herself, a “Domestic Goddess”. In Jaycee’s short 33 years she has touched so many lives and has shown so many that even in the face of adversity, joy can be found.  She always had a sparkle in her eyes and a contagious smile. Jaycee leaves cherished memories to her husband of 9 years, Travis R. Elliott of the home; parents, Gregg and Joanie Goss of Perkins, Oklahoma; mother-in-law, Dee Dee Mitchell and her husband Walt of Yukon, Oklahoma; father-in-law, Tommy Elliott of Pink, Oklahoma; one brother, Jake Goss and his wife Ginger of Little Elm, Texas; one niece, Timber Goss of Little Elm, Texas; one brother-in-law, Scott Elliott and his wife Laura of Lagrange, Texas; two nephews, Jackson Elliott and Dylan Elliott both of Lagrange, Texas; a sister by love, Kandace Weisenfels of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; her special little dog, Zoey Belle; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other family and dear friends. Jaycee is preceded in death by her grandparents, Billy John Goss, Martha (Root) Goss, Neil and Vivian Kitchens, Elmo and Mary VanMeter and many of her friends who shared the heart and children’s hospital experience and preceded her in death. The family will be receiving friends at Swearingen Funeral Home on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Jaycee’s life will be held Friday, July 13, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Seminole First Baptist Church located at 420 Reid Street in Seminole, Oklahoma.  Rev. Marvin Kehl and Rev. Danny Cavett will officiate the service.  Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, Oklahoma.
