Jaunita Nichols

Jaunita Jane (Cowell) Nichols, 73 Jaunita Jane (Cowell) Nichols, a Seminole, Oklahoma resident, for the past 24 years, passed away Thursday June 18, 2015 at home, she was 73 years old. Jaunita, was born July 11, 1941 in Elk City, Oklahoma to parents, Murl Cowell and Hazel (Woodard) Cowell. Jaunita married John J. Nichols on August 28, 1959 in Phoenix, Arizona. Jaunita moved to Seminole from Holdenville, Oklahoma in 1991. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Holdenville. She was the parts lady and bookkeeper at J & N Lawn Mower Shop. Jaunita is survived by her husband, John Nichols of the home; children, Timothy Nichols of Earlsboro, Oklahoma, Deborah Griffin and her husband, Martin of Calvin, Oklahoma, Teresa Black and her husband Bob of Holdenville, Oklahoma, Marilyn McMahon and her husband Danny of Norman, Oklahoma, Rebecca “Becky” Linker of Burkburnett, Texas, and Kevin Nichols of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one brother, Travis Cowell and his wife Reggie of Reno, Nevada; four sisters, Lena Sanchez and her husband Samuel of Riverside, California, Florence Haggerdy and her husband Danny of Norman, Oklahoma, Margaret Jones of Noble, Oklahoma, Imogene Herzer of Wewoka, Oklahoma. Jaunita was preceded in death by her parents, Murl and Hazel Cowell and four sisters, Betty Sue Cowell, Earlen and Mearlen Cowell and Ilena Breeden. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Frank Whitney officiating. Burial will take place at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Seminole, Oklahoma. Serving as  casket bearers are: Matthew Griffin, Travis Griffin, Scotty Black, Andy Black, Michael Nichols, Jonathon Nichols. Honorary casket bearers are: Chastin Nichols, Steven McMahon and Frankie Nichols. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Oklahoma.
