Janis Leigh (Sockey) Phillips , age 60 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away from this life Thursday evening August 12, 2021 at her home under Kindful Hospice care.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate, and burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Casket bearers are Shane Brooks, Jimmy “Wayne” Phillips, Marvin “Joe” Phillips, and Keelan Prewett. Honorary bearers are Billy Phillips, Gannon Phillips, and Issac Cavin.
Janis was born October 8, 1960 in Grubbs, Arkansas to Lucy Aretta (Simmons) Sockey. She graduated from Grubbs High School in 1979. She married Billy Dewayne Phillips June 21, 1991 in Jackson County, Arkansas. She lived most of her life in Grubbs and Cash, Arkansas before settling in Konawa to spend the rest of her life. Janis was a family oriented woman who would do anything for her loved ones. She persevered through all her medical obstacles with nothing but positivity. She was always optimistic about her life and loved that she got to enjoy her grand-babies. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Phillips of the home; three sons, Shane Michael Brooks and Rheanna Glass of Konawa, Jimmy DeWayne “Wayne” Phillips and wife, Amanda of Konawa; and Marvin “Joe” Phillips and Tashina Narcomey of Seminole, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Gannon Phillips, Brinley Phillips, Kyle Phillips, Issac Cavin, and Sadie Phillips.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucy Sockey.
