Janice Cecilia (Wolf) Kernell, 67 year old Oklahoma City, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at SSM Health St. Anthony in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She was born December 15, 1950 in Seminole, Oklahoma to parents Martha (Alexander) Wolf and Delmar Wolf, Sr. Janice was a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma (the Mekusukey Band). Janice graduated from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City and went on to earn her Associates degree in nursing. On October 31, 1970 Janice married Glen Kernell, Sr. in Oklahoma City. Janice worked as a registered nurse at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City until her retirement. Janice loved softball, basketball, sewing, going to yard sales and attending Billy Hooton United Methodist Church. Janice leaves to cherish her memories, one son Chebon Kernell and his wife Sara of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two daughters Christie Kernell and Rae Kernell both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother Paul “Donnie” Wolf and his wife Joyce of Meeker, Oklahoma; one sister, Paulette “Janie” Wolf Cozad of Shawnee, Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren, Kaycee Kernell, Josiah Kernell, Raylen Kernell, Solomon Kernell, Cali Kernell and Malachi Kernell Smiley; and by a host of other family and dear friends. Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Delmar and Martha Wolf, one brother, Delmar Wolf, Jr. and by her husband of 42 years, Glen Kernell, Sr. who died April 3, 2012. A wake service will be held 6:30 p.m., Friday, June 22, 2018 at Hitchitte Indian Methodist Church located 5 miles east of Little Cemetery on Hwy. 99A then north ½ mile. Rev. Larry Factor will officiate. Funeral service are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Hitchitte Indian Methodist Church with Rev. Alvin Deere officiating the service. Interment will follow at the Kernell Family Cemetery located west of Seminole. Casket Bearers will be: Josiah Kernell, D’Angelo Grant, Phoenix Grant, Anthony Kernell, Kent Sanmann and Cecil Wilson. Honorary Bearers will be: Ted Isham, Rocky Kernell, Louie Lena and members of the Helvpe Ceremonial Grounds. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
