Janette “Hook“ Hancock, 82, longtime Seminole resident, died Sunday, December 13, 2015 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Janette was born November 10, 1933 at Steedman, Pontotoc County, Oklahoma to Charlie “CB” Brooks and Mary (McCormick) Brooks. She grew up in the Allen, Oklahoma and graduated from Allen Public Schools. Hook was a homemaker, a mother of four children and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma She married John W. “J.W.” Hancock on June 18, 1953 in Ada, Oklahoma. John preceded her in death on July 11, 2007. Hook is survived by two sons; Jerry Hancock and his wife Dyanna of Houston, Texas and Mike Hancock and his wife Kelly of Edmond, Oklahoma, two daughters; Anita Hancock Ranells and her husband Billy of Wewoka, Oklahoma and Sandra Jo Hancock of the home in Seminole, Oklahoma; sisters Inez Figley of Seminole, Oklahoma and Irene Samsel of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Johnna Lee and her husband Josh of Ada, Oklahoma, Tragg Ranells and his wife Chrystal of Seminole, Oklahoma, Kelsey Hancock of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Micha Hancock of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jonathan Tatum and Jeremy Tatum both of Houston, Texas., her five great grandchildren, Logan Seeley, Dalton Ranells and Carson Ranells all of Seminole, Oklahoma and Jacie, and Jalynn Lee both of Ada, Oklahoma. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 A.M., Wednesday December 16, 2015 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, East of Seminole, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be Denny Evans, Kody Evans, Dale Smith, Ricky Haworth, Josh Lee and Tragg Ranells.
