Jana Renee Griffin

Jana Renee Griffin, 53, Seminole resident, died Sunday, June 21, 2015, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Jana was born on May 12, 1962, in Marlow, Oklahoma to Janet Louise (Prater) and S. Leon Hardisty. Jana grew up in Marlow, Oklahoma and attended public school there and graduated from Marlow High School in 1980. She later attended Oklahoma State University, in Stillwater, Oklahoma  for one year, then completed her bachelor’s degree at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma.  Jana was a dedicated teacher at South Rock Creek Schools in Shawnee, Oklahoma, where she taught Physical Education and then Third Grade for the majority of her career. Jana was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole and loved scrapbooking , going to Branson and taking care of her dog Lizzie.  Jana was also an OSU fan. She married Jeff Griffin on December 6, 1986, at the Lakeside Baptist Church in Marlow, Oklahoma. Jana is survived by  her loving husband  Jeff Griffin of Seminole, Oklahoma, son  Lane Griffin of Seminole her daughter Paige Griffin of Seminole, her mother  Janet Prater  of Lakewood, Colorado, one sister DeAnn Weidmann and husband  Peter, of Lunenberg, MA., mother-in-law Christine Griffin, Seminole , brother-in-law and sister-in-law  Mike and Tricia Griffin of Wolf, Oklahoma, sister-in-law  Susie Griffin of Seminole  and her aunt  Betty Roberts of Lakewood, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law J.D. Griffin and brother-in-law  John “ Rusty” Griffin. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 25, 2015, at the First Baptist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma with Matt Pollock officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Josh Griffin, David Griffin, Jeroid Berry, Brent Griffin, Jacob Griffin and Floyd Griffin. In Lieu of flowers the family requests  memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church “ The Bridge” in Seminole. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
