James Jeffery “Jeff” Thomas, Seminole resident, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at his home in Seminole, at the age of 62. Jeff was born on October 24, 1960 in Pocatello, Idaho to James Earl Thomas and Verna Jean (Curtis) Thomas. He spent most of his life in Idaho near family fishing and hunting.
Jeff married Grace Ann Martinez on February 11, 1982 in Jacksonville, North Carolina. He served 4 years in the United States Marine Corp and 8 years in the Army National Guard in Pocatello and Boise, Idaho. While in the Army he served as an Apache helicopter mechanic crew chief. He served on the USS Iwo Jima and the USS Saipan. Jeff served during the Beirut conflict and was active duty during Desert Storm. He was also a volunteer firefighter for Bannock County. Jeff enjoyed being outdoors and working on cars. He was a man that was always alert. He was known to be a hard worker and someone you could call for help rain or snow.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Grace of Bethany; son, James Anthony Thomas and wife, Labreska of Oklahoma City; daughter, Tiffany Hare and husband, Kendrick of Seminole; sister, Cindy Thomas and husband, Alan of Pocatello, ID; four grandchildren, Nevaeh Hare, Destiny Hare, Kendrick Hare Jr. and Hunter Hare all of Seminole; one great “button in the oven”; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins and many other family and friends.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, James Earl and Verna Jean Thomas; sister, Kathleen Kenley and several treasured aunts and uncles.
A celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Seminole, OK. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
