James Ira Sullivan, 89, Shawnee, Oklahoma resident, died Friday, May 25, 2018 at the Colonial Estates Nursing Home in Shawnee, Oklahoma. James was born August 27, 1928 in Electra, Texas to H.C. Sullivan and Opal Irene (Adams) Sullivan. James married, Catheryn Sue (Bellar) Sullivan on March 31, 1945 in Altus, Oklahoma, they were married for 45 years. Sue preceded him in death on December 21, 2009. He was also preceded in death by a daughter Peggy Sullivan of Shawnee, Oklahoma, who died on November 25, 2017. Jimmy grew up on his Grandpa Adam’s farm near Tipton, Oklahoma. He later moved to Vernon, Texas as a teenager when his mother remarried. James was an only child, but gained a big family when he and Sue were married. During the past few years since Sue’s death most of her family has preceded James in death. James lived in Vernon, Texas until September of 1968, when he was transferred by Bariod Drilling Materials, to Seminole, Oklahoma during the Oil Boom. James was a Drilling Material Warehouseman for Bariod Drilling Materials. Just one year later he was transferred back to Vernon, Texas. Two years later he was transferred to Elk City, Oklahoma where he lived until 2013, when they moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma. Jimmy and Sue had a wonderful life together, full of family and friends. They shared a beautiful love story. They both enjoyed fishing and being together, they also loved making trips to Colorado each summer. Besides fishing he also enjoyed hunting. Jimmy will be greatly missed by his remaining family and his care givers at Colonial Estates in Shawnee, Oklahoma. James is survived by his daughter Linda Rose of Shawnee, Oklahoma and a grandson Jascen Wells of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be held on 1:00 P.M., Wednesday May 30, 2018 at the Eastview Cemetery in Vernon, Texas. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
