James Eugene Smith, 77 year old Seminole resident, entered eternal life on January 17, 2015 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. James was born on April 30, 1937 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Joe Harry and Opal Jean (Porter) Smith. On October 23, 1964 James married Judy Faye (Vass) in Shawnee, Oklahoma. James retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in 1999 after 42 years of service as a track supervisor. Eight years ago they moved to Seminole from Haysville, Kansas. James loved playing golf and watching golf on television after he became unable to play himself. He also loved watching cartoons with his grandchildren, fishing, Tradio, yard sales, swap meets and Oklahoma University sports. He always smiled. James leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 50 years, Judy; two sons, James B. Smith of Seminole, Oklahoma and Jay Scott Smith and wife Elizabeth of Seminole, Oklahoma; two sisters, Betty Hollingsworth of Seminole, Oklahoma and Jayne Salcido of California; two grandchildren, Natalie Stone and Zaine Smith as well as other dear family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Opal Smith, three brothers, Glenn Smith, Bobby Smith and Joe Dean Smith. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the Little Cemetery chapel with burial to follow at Little Cemetery.
