James “Jimmy” Harold Phillips, Jr., age 46 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away from this life on Monday, May 24, 2010, at Carl Albert Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma. Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 27th at the P. A. C. Building in Konawa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Rev. Pam Shirk, Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Konawa will officiate. Pallbearers are Gordon Garner, Shawn Walker, Steve Tucker, John Tarver, David Tarver, and Curtis Radford. Jimmy was born on March 22, 1964, at Lawton, Oklahoma to James H. Phillips, Sr. and Betty Sue (Hisaw) Phillips. He is a graduate of Konawa High School in 1982, and he received an Industrial Engineering degree in 1987 from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, and his teaching certificate in 1993. He taught school and coached at Shawnee Middle School for ten years. He taught at Konawa Middle School, and he was an assistant coach for track and field. Jimmy married Kimberly Ann (Holman) on June 28, 1991 in Ada. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed golf and truly enjoyed the great outdoors. He loved coaching and was an inspiration to all the students and faculty and to everyone he met. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Konawa. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Kimberly Phillips, of the home; two sons, Justin Michael Roberts and wife, Linsey of Konawa, and Jarod Kyle Phillips also of Konawa; his parents, Jim and Betty Phillips; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kay Trent and LaDonna Holman; two grandchildren, Caleb Pittman and Carleigh Roberts; Uncle Bill Underwood and wife, Angel of Lewisville, Texas, Aunt Faye Miller, Aunt Ina Grant and husband Doug, Aunt Betty Hisaw, Aunt Maxine Blanset, all of Ada, Uncle Joe Hisaw of Konawa; and numerous cousins; Uncle Stanley and Aunt Judy Underwood; cousins, Laurie Alexander, Brad Underwood and Doug Underwood, Zach Alexander, Trey Underwood, Dylan and Bailey Underwood, and Mason Underwood. He is also survived by Kim’s sisters, Kaylon and Kerri Holman; Kim’s nephew, Bret Holman; Kim’s mother, Mary Scoggins; and Kim’s biological father, David Bradley and wife, Jeri. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, O.D. and Helen Phillips; maternal grandparents, Ben and Ella Hisaw; uncles, Butch Phillips, Jimmy Miller, and Delbert Hisaw; cousins, Teresa and Darrell Miller, Ronald Joe Hisaw, and Garland Perry. In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the “Coach Jimmy Phillips” Scholarship.
