James Gordon McGee, Maud resident, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2023 in Maud at the age of 87. James was born on June 11, 1936 in St. Louis, OK to Earl Winford McGee and Vera Mae (Caudle) McGee. James proudly served and retired from the United States Army. He met Judy Hoskison in 1985 and married her on December 29, 1987 and became a father to her three children as well as his three children and forever changed their lives. James further dedicated his time to helping raise his grandson, Decota Hoskison. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to auctions and repairing items purchased which he called “piddling”.
James is survived by his wife, Judy McGee; four sons, David McGee (Angie) of Louisville, KY, James McGee of E. Town, KY, Charles Hoskison of Maud, OK and Bryan Hoskison, of Tecumseh, OK; two daughters, Loretta Moses (Gerald) of E. Town, KY and Nita Newcomb (Bill) of Prague, OK; grandson raised like a son, Decota Hoskison; brother, Don McGee (Kay) of Okemah, OK; four sisters, Delores Howe of Jefferson, MO, Barbara Corlee (Orville) of Hot Springs, AR, Loretta Henderson of Oklahoma City, OK and Diane Pyle (Doyle) of Maud, OK; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; several very special nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Vera McGee; two brothers, Earl McGee and Jerry McGee.
Viewing will be on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 14, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. Tim Martin will officiate.
