James Lee Phillips , age 88 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Seminole Care and Rehab Center in Seminole, Oklahoma.
No service is planned at this time, and cremation is under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, Oklahoma.
James was born April 15, 1932 in Belington, West Virginia to Edward Dice Phillips and Maggie Geneva (Vest) Phillips. He worked most of his life as a cross-country truck driver. He also enjoyed farming. He was a SP-3 in the Army from May, 1953 until May, 1956 during the Korean Conflict. He married Beverly Ann Goings on February 9, 1956 at Ft. Hood, Texas.
He is survived by two sons, Billy Phillips and wife, Janis of Konawa, and Tim Phillips of Jackson, Tennessee; one daughter, Debbie Slaven of Cash, Arkansas; one sister, Betty Phillips of Buchanan, West Virginia; five grandchildren, Shelia DeArmond, Shonda Phillips, Wayne Phillips, Joe Phillips, and Shane Brooks; seven great grandchildren, Cade DeArmond, James Carl “J.C.” Bilbrew, Gannon Phillips, Brinley Phillips, Kyle Phillips, Sadie Phillips, Isaac Cavin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Ann Phillips; his parents, Edward and Maggie Phillips; one son, Ronnie Phillips; five brothers, Dice, Tude, Gerald, Charles, and Alan Dale Phillips; five sisters, Mary Richards, Marguerite Price, Carolyn Bennett, Katheryn Taylor, and Laura Phillips.
