James Jones

Mr. James H. "Jim" Jones, 81 year old longtime Maud resident passed from this life on Sunday, November 19, 2006 at Parkland Manor Care Center in Prague, Oklahoma. He was born February 1, 1925 in Meeker, Oklahoma to parents G.H. and Lillian Jones.rnrnMr. Jones graduated from Maud High School in 1943 and went on to serve in the United States Army during World War II. He earned his Masters Degree in Education from Oklahoma University in Norman, Oklahoma. He married Ada "Lee" Rinkle on January 25, 1949 in Holdenville, Oklahoma.rnrnMr. Jones dedicated his life to educating children, first in Holdenville Schools and on to Nowata Schools, he then retired from Maud Public School system as assistant Superintendent.rnrnMr. Jones was always ready to give to his community, he was a member of the Maud Chamber of Commerce and Maud Historical Society. He was also a longtime member and Deacon at Maud First Baptist Church. He would volunteer for every project that needed his help.rnrnMr. Jones was a football and basketball official for over 30 years. He loved to play golf with his buddies every chance he got.rnrnSurvivors include his son, James P. "J.J." Jones of Maud, Oklahoma and one brother, W.D. "Buddy" Jones of Horseshoe Bay, Texas.rnrnJones is preceded in death by his parents and by his wife Ada "Lee" Jones who died April 12, 2004.rnrnFuneral Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Maud, Oklahoma. Connie Ramsey former Maud Superintendent will reflect on the life of Mr. Jones and Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate, with special music provided by Judy McGee.rnrnCasket Bearers will be: Don Peters, J.D. Harris, Gurdon Johnson, Bill Washburn, Tommy Calvert and Ronnie Stackhouse.rnrnMr. Jones has touched many lives in his 81 years on this earth and we are thankful for his life.rnrnServices are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud, Oklahoma.
