James Henry “Jim” Ivey, age 84 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma on Saturday, December 10, 2016. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Troy Byrd and Richard Winters will officiate, and burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Casket bearers are Tim Coffey, Marty Coffey, Cody Campbell, Randy Stanfill, Jeremiah Stanfill, and Ed Moore. Honorary bearers are Tom Agee, Oness Carpenter, Larry Marker, Lawrence Hinman, Ed Cole, Gil Ragland, and Jack Hiser. Jim was born August 19, 1932 in Konawa to Walter Ivey and Mary (Hundley) Ivey. He married Wanda Sue Moore November 9, 1957 in Konawa, and he worked as an auto mechanic. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army in Korea where he earned a purple heart and a silver star. He loved custom cars, and he loved racing and reading western and military books. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wanda Sue (Moore) Ivey of the home; one son, Walter “Kevin” Ivey and wife, Edna of Ada, Oklahoma; and one daughter, Jennifer Ivey of Crowley, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Ivey; one brother, A. L. “Babe” Ivey; and one sister, Betty Lou Salcedo.
