Funeral services for longtime Seminolernresident James August Hughes are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home chapel with Norma Tate & Rev. Allen Wood officiating.rn Interment is to follow at Little cemetery under the direction of Swearingen funeral Home, Seminole.rn Hughes, 87, died Thursday, July 26, 2007, at his home. He was born on August 21, 1919, in Hinton, Ok., to Lee Delbert Hughes and Carrie Derigo.rn On November 26, 1951, he married Janice Marshall in Shawnee.rn As a teenager he began working as a baker at Skaggs Alpha Beta Store and then came to Seminole; opened the bakery in Homeland, and then opened and worked at the Bakery at Wwestern sizzler.rn Hughes has lived in the area for 37 years having moved from California.rn He was a minister from 1968 to 1978 and was a member of Freewill Baptist church.rn Hughes enjoyed baking and attended the Seminole Chieftain football games. He rode his motorcycle until the age of 80.rn His parents and one daughter, Cheryl Hughes Johnson, preceded him in death.rn Surviving is his wife of the home; two sons, James Hughes of Dallas, Texas and Ken Hughes of Seminole; two daughters, Cindy Scott and Lisa Fry, both of Seminole; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.rn Casket bearers will be Michael Johnson, David Azlin, John Hughes, Jeremy Hughes, Adam Botsford and Tommy Lucas.rn Honorary bearers will be dennis Hughes, Caleb Tackett, Chase Tackett, Zachary tackett, Stevie Hughes, Jack Johnson, Brandon Raley, Angie Johnson, Katie Judd, Kyla Licwinko and Kendra Dahl.rn Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.swearingenfuneralhome.com.
