James Edward Grant, age 67, of Sasakwa, Okla., died Thursday, September 21, 2006, at his residence in Sasakwa. rnHe was born on January 26, 1939 in Phoenix, AZ to Tollie and Jessie (Sumpter) Grant. He attended Konawa Public Schools and later enlisted in the National Guard and served for 8 years. He married Jessie Anita (Hargrave) on August 29, 1959 in Phoenix, AZ. He worked for Copperstate Automotive in Phoenix and retired from there in 2001.rnrnAfter his retirement James and Jessie moved to Sasakwa. He was a member of the Sasakwa Assembly of God Church, lifetime member of the North America Fishing & Hunting Club and former member of The Jaycees.rnrnHe is survived by his mother, Jessie F. Grant of Ada; his wife, Jessie A. Grant of the home; one daughter, Toni Barkley and her husband Mark of Quitman, TX; two sons, Richard Grant of Kansas and William V. Grant of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Barbara Jones and her husband Ozell of Sasakwa and Martha Tyler and her husband Ronnie of Konawa; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. rnrnArrangements are being handled by Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, 217 N.
