James Fred Ellison, 89, longtime Seminole resident died Saturday, October 3, 2009 in Del City, Oklahoma. Fred was born March 1, 1920 in Baxten County, Arkansas to Grover Cleveland and Emily Ora (Farnell) Ellison. Fred and his parents moved to Seminole from Arkansas in 1921. Mr. Ellison attended and was a graduate of Seminole High School, he attended college and after one and one-half year’s war interrupted his education. Mr. Ellison joined the United States Army Air Force on January 13, 1942 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and attained the rank of corporal. He was honorably discharged on November 15, 1945. After the World War II, Fred met and married Linnie M. Wood they were married at the First Baptist Church parsonage on October 14, 1946. Mr. Ellison had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole Since 1937. Mr. Ellison was a fire fighter for the Seminole Fire Department from 1951 to 1971. His loving wife Linnie M. Ellison survives Mr. Ellison this October 14, they would have been married for 63 years. His sister, Melba Rumsey of Seminole, Oklahoma and a host of Nieces and Nephews also survive him. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the First Baptist Church,420 Reid street, Seminole, Okla.,with Dr. Tommy Clark officiating.
