James "Jim" Henry Eischeid, longtime Sacred Heart and Konawa area resident, died Friday, December 1, 2006, at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada, OK. Jim was born on September 24, 1928 in Ada, OK to Henry & Anita (Zoeller) Eischeid. He was raised in the Konawa area and graduated from Konawa High School. He received a Bachelors Degree from East Central University in Ada. rnJim enlisted in the US Navy and served during the end of World War II and received an honorable discharge. He later enlisted in the US Air Force and was a fighter pilot during the Korean War having received numerous medals. He attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and retired from the armed forces on July 31, 1974 having served his country for 30 years. rnJim married Marie (Nicklas) on November 3, 1984 at Sacred Heart. After retirement, Jim enjoyed working his cows on his ranch outside of Konawa.rnHe was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.rnHe is survived by his wife Marie (Nicklas) Eischeid of the home; three sons, Greg Eischeid & his wife Debbie of Edmond, OK, Doug Eischeid & his wife Michele of Weatherford, TX and James Roger Eischeid of Oklahoma City;rntwo step-daughters, Janice Blakely & her husband Justin of Springtown, TX and Maggie Pace of Houston, TX; one brother, Bill Eischeid of Edmond, OK; grandchildren, Daniel, Dylan, Caleb, David, Marty and Melanie; step grandchildren, Kristi, Sonya and her husband Danny and Justine and one step great grandson, Ethan. rnHe was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Andrea Douglas and one sister, JoAnn Newton. rnMass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Matthew Brown OSB, officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors. A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, December 6 at 6:00 P.M. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. rnArrangements are being handled by Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, 217 N.
