James Colbert

James Donald Colbert, 70, longtime Seminole county resident, passed away, Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at his home in Seminole, Oklahoma. James was born February 28, 1948 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Robert Hardin Colbert and Helen (Kernell) Colbert. James attended Pleasant Grove Schools and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1966. He attended Okmulgee State Tech and became a certified diesel mechanic. After attending Okmulgee State Tech he entered the United States Marine Corp on June 22, 1967 and served 18 months in Vietnam during the War, he attained the rank of Corporal. James was a tribal member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. James worked at Joe Mills Well Service for 15 years, work many years as a Truck Driver. He loved to work with wood, making things and doing woodcarving. James is survived by two sons; Daniel Lee Colbert and James Allen Colbert, his brother Robert Colbert of Wewoka, Oklahoma and sister: Elizabeth “Candy” Palmore of Mt. Pleasant, Texas and one grandchild Sabian Colbert. A visitation service was held 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma, with burial at a later date at the Kernell  Family Cemetery, west of Seminole, Oklahoma.
