Dr. Jack Medlock

Jack (Jackie) passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones on October 5, 2023 at the age of 83.

Jack was born to Woodrow and Dovie (Reece) Medlock on March 30th, 1940, in Keota, Oklahoma.

Jack grew up around Bowlegs, Oklahoma. He attended Bowlegs high school and graduated in May 1957. He attended school at Shiloh Ok, McCurtain, Bowlegs, Seminole State, East Central, Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma University and George Peabody College in Nashville Tennessee. He earned his PHD from the University of Oklahoma.

While growing up he worked at an Independent Tank evenings and weekends where he learned to weld and became very good at it. He taught school at Holdenville Ok and Seminole Junior College where he taught Science and nursing for many years.  Jack also served as Vice-President of Academic Affairs at Seminole State.

Jack was also a minister. He pastored at Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Seminole Oklahoma and filled in for many pastors throughout the county. Jack with help built the Glad Tidings Assembly of God church with Much prayer and guidance from the Lord. He also did the welding on the Bowlegs Assembly of God Church in the Fellowship Hall.  Jack was saved at the Evangelistic Center in Seminole Ok.

Jack married his wife Colleen Robertson the last day of her senior year of high school. They were married for 63 years.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents Woodrow and Dovie Medlock, brother Jerry Wayne Medlock, and sister Elena Maria Silas.  He is survived by his wife Colleen of the home, son Tim Medlock of Seminole and daughter Shonna Vandivort of Stroud, four grandsons and several great grandchildren, brother, Gary Medlock, of Seminole, and sisters, Robin Hall of Edmond and Vonda Culbertson of Benton, Louisiana.  Many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Services will be Monday, October 9, 2023, at 1:30 P.M. at the Bowlegs Assembly of God Church, with Rev Roy Robertson officiating.  Interment will follow at Little Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
