Ivan Hopkins

Ivan Gordon Hopkins, a Shawnee, Oklahoma resident passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the age of 83. Ivan was born in Seminole, Oklahoma on July 31, 1928 to parents Floyd Edward Hopkins and Maud Margaret (Vaughn) Hopkins. Ivan was employed as a shop foreman for National Concrete in Seminole, Oklahoma and retired from the civil service after 29 1/2 years. He was a machinist and a tool and die maker. He served in the United States Army and was of the Protestant faith. Ivan married Viola (Welch) Hopkins, on April 22, 1949 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, they were married for 63 years. Ivan is survived by one son, Randy Hopkins of Shawnee, Oklahoma, two daughters, Regina Post and Pamela Johnson both of Shawnee, Oklahoma. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; Annette Marie Granger and her husband, Bart of Durant, Oklahoma, Shannon Johnson and Danny Hilton both of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Angel Dawn Wilson and husband Stacy of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Anna Nirea Andrew and her husband Jerry of Seminole, Oklahoma, Edward Allen Johnson II and his wife Marlynn, Damon Gordon Hopkins, Randy Gene Hopkins II .. He is also survived by great grandchildren; Ashley and Abby Granger, Kayla Jones, Toree and Shai Johnson, Trinity Johnson, Gabriel Wells, Alix and Brenden Wilson, Arriana, Ahyden, Arainia, Asiah Strong, Dalton and Dayton Johnson, Darion Johnson and Arron Williams and one great great grandchild Zoey Ruth Williams. Ivan was preceded in death by one grandson Arthur Clyde Wells III and granddaughter, Jenniffer Lynn Hopkins. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel of Seminole, Oklahoma. Reverend Clifford Welch will officiate with burial at Little Cemetery, Seminole, Oklahoma. Serving as casket bearers are: Danny Hilton, Randy Hopkins, Robert Hawkins, Jerry Andrew, Jerry Vaughn, Charles Franklin, Dalton Johnson, and Floyd Spears. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Oklahoma.
