Iva Maye Steward

Long time Maud resident, Iva Maye Steward, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023 in Meeker, Oklahoma at the age of 85.

Iva, the daughter of Lynn and Nora (Walker) Wolfington, was born October 31, 1937, in Hereford, Texas.  Iva graduated from Harjo High School, with the class of 1955.  On August 6, 1955, she married Darvin Steward at the Romulus First Baptist Church.  Iva and Darvin were married 49 years, prior to his passing on September 5, 2004.  Iva enjoyed painting and crocheting, fishing and going to garage sales, and she was an avid, and often vocal, fan watching her grandsons play football.  Iva was a member of Eastern Star and of the People’s Church in Maud.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Darvin; her parents Lynn and Nora Wolfington; a son and daughter-in-law, Darwin and Charlotte Steward; and siblings, Albert Wolfington, L.B. Wolfington Jr., Leovia Johnson, and Nelly Dobbs.

Iva is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Tim Phillips of Meeker; grandchildren, Scotty Phillips, of Meeker, and Tony Phillips, of Meeker; a great granddaughter, Anna Phillips of Meeker; a sister, Beulah Lee, of Joplin, MO.; nephew Albert Lee and Becky Wolfington; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Services will be Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 2:00 P.M., at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole.  Interment will follow at Gable Cemetery in Meeker.  Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
