Irene Harjo Carpitche, 92, longtime Seminole County resident, died Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Rose Manor Nursing Home in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Irene had been living in Shawnee, Oklahoma for the past few years, near her daughter. Irene was born in Sasakwa, Oklahoma on August 13, 1925. She was of the Seminole/Creek Nation Tribes of Oklahoma. Irene lived most of her life in the Sasakwa, Konawa, and Friendship communities. She was a retired Certified Medication Aide. She worked for many years in Konawa, helping interpret for Native American services at the Watts Funeral Home, then Pickard Funeral and now Swearingen Funeral Home, where she was able to help and serve many families. Irene loved to sew, collecting collectables, Oklahoma University sports, spending time with her grandchildren and camping at her church. Irene is survived by her daughters; Samaria Mayes and her husband Lawrence of Roff, Oklahoma, Martha Walker and her husband Kellos of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Emma Carpitche and her husband Tremale, of Ada, Oklahoma, three sons Timothy Carpitche and his wife Deanna of Ada, Oklahoma, Luther Carpitche of Ada, Oklahoma and Oscar Carpitche of Seminole, Oklahoma, her grandchildren; Hilda Ann, Darlene Mayes, Erica Dawn, John Chris, Jill Marie, Craig Ceasar, Cale Ryan, Clayton, Jericho, Gerren and Ira, her great grandchildren; Ben, Cameron, Abby, Anthony, Anna and Mynni, Teagan, Ryker, Ceasar, Set, Gavon, Devon, Elyas, Aniyah and Syan, great great grandchildren, Ace and Luca Costilla, her special cousins, Jimpsey Harjo and Ruby Impson, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Minnie Muska Harjo, husband, Ceasar Carpitche, children, Joseph, Paul, Daniel and Emily, grandchildren Colton, Oscar Jr., Mark and Buddy and her brothers; Amon Harjo, Roman Harjo, Richmond Harjo and her sister Adeline Carpitche. Wake services will be 6:00 P.M., Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma, with Bro. Walter Factor, Leon Postoak, Jimpsey Harjo, speaking. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, with Kellos Walker, Kenneth Cooper and Dorsey Nero, speaking. Burial will follow at the Wilson Family Cemetery near the Friendship Community, west of Sasakwa, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will by Dale Lee Jesse, Stacy Harjo, Guy Kowena, Gerren Walker, Craig Poafpybitty and Anthony Bessire. Honorary bearers will be her grandsons.
