She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, step-daughter, great-great granddaughter,a sister, Rita Pantano and two brothers, Andy O.Carr and Robert Wallace Carr. Imo was born in a farm house near Atkinson, Nebraska, on January 31, 1923, to Robert and Pearl (Hager-Iliff) Carr. She was the third child of seven. When she was still in grade school, a younger sibling was injured and Imo's mother and little sister spent a great deal of time in and out of the hospital. On these occasions, Imo was left in charge of preparation of meals for the family and haying crew on the farm and also the care of her younger siblings. Imo stayed in  Nebraska until she met and married a soldier, Ora Ralph Akins, during World War II. For the next couple of years, she moved around from one Air Force Base to another. She lived in California for a short time, and then moved back to Nebraska for a few years. She later, moved to Wyoming, where she opened a Day Care in her home. The first marriage began to fail and she eventually divorced and remarried. When she started her new life with Edward Scheidt, she moved her family to Oklahoma where she opened another Home Day Care and eventually became a foster parent to many children in the Seminole County area. For several years she worked as the nursery worker at the Seminole Presbyterian Church. Imo worked for a few years an a local convenience store in Seminole called Breedlove's Grocery and then sometime later she cooked for another Seminole business called Romine Auction. Imo also enjoyed her garden and spent many hours there. Her roses were always beautiful. Many knew her for her homemade strawberry jelly which was often served on homemade bread. Her home grown tomatoes were especially good and she often shared them with friends and neighbors. She enjoyed canning and preserving the fruits and vegetables she had grown. When the weather cooled and she couldn't be in her garden, she spent a great deal of time making quilts. Often, in her retirement years, she would travel to South Dakota to visit, although in reality she probably never really retired. She always had to be home in time to get her garden in. Music at the service will be provided by the Dove family. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Gary, Randall and Kevin Davidson, Zachary and Daniel Nix, Brian Wilson, Brian Keith Dove, Arlin Akins and honorary pallbearers : Curtis Lloyd, Daniel Dove, Joseph Pyle, Bradley Pyle, Joseph Wilson, Edward Wilson Jr., Mike Grant and Larry Grant Funeral Information: October 18, 2011, 10:00 AM Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel located at 1001 N.
