Hoyle Douglas Schlueter

Hoyle Douglas Schlueter, 90, longtime Bowlegs, Oklahoma resident, passed away, Saturday, May 4, 2019, at his home in Bowlegs. Hoyle was born March 22, 1929 in Indianola, Oklahoma. His parents Frank Pink Schlueter and Irene (Sherrill) Schlueter raised him in Indianola, where he attended school. Hoyle entered the United States Army on August 12, 1949 and was discharged on September 20, 1952 at the rank of Corporal. While serving during the Korean War, Hoyle was in Company C 423rd Engineer, Battalion 47th Division and received several service medals during the war. Hoyle’s working career was mainly in the Seminole oilfields, working as a roustabout for Triangle Lease Service, Flint Rig Construction Company, White Lumber Company and Murphy Lumber Company, and several other companies through the years. He was also a great carpenter. Hoyle’s love for the outdoors led him to be active in anything outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hoyle married Bonnie (Duncan) Schlueter on December 23, 1951 in Seminole, Oklahoma. Hoyle is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bonnie Schlueter of Bowlegs, Oklahoma, two sons; Ricky Schlueter of Bowlegs, Oklahoma and Mark Schlueter and his wife Tricia of McAlester, Oklahoma, eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his much loved grandfather and grandmother that raised him, Henry and Irene Schlueter and his brother Herman Schlueter. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the Thrace Cemetery, south of Bowlegs, Oklahoma, with Rev. Robert Foos officiating. Casket bearers will be Frank Schlueter, Clyde Gibson, Kyle Moore, Shane Schlueter, Cody Schlueter and Justin Schlueter. Honorary bearers will be Buddy Taylor, Riley Porter, Greg Schlueter and Jeremy Schlueter.
