Howard Vanlandingham

Howard Alvie Vanlandingham, 87 year old Seminole resident, passed away  Monday, January 22, 2018 at his home in Seminole. Howard was born September 9, 1930 in Dale, Oklahoma to Alvie Lee Vanlandingham and Fay (Norton) Vanlandingham. Howard worked for Phillips 66 Oil Company for 38 years and retired from the Philblack Plant as a supervisor. Howard married Talhia (Anderson) Vanlandingham on December 4, 1976 in Stinnett, Texas and they had 42 wonderful years together. The family has fond memories of Howard. He loved ranching, raising his cattle, horses, team roping with his son Vince and brother, James, watching western TV Shows, reading Louis L’Amour western novels, driving his tractor, telling stories, camping, fishing, bowling and at the age of 72, he taught his grandchildren to ski and even enjoyed skiing with them. He also loved riding motorcycles with his sons Howard and Vince and going to horse sales with his brother James and Vince. He also loved watching his granddaughter, Paige play basketball, trout fishing in Red River and Taos, New Mexico with his family, helping co-workers with electrical needs and carpentry work, but most of all they remember a loving, good father, that enjoyed being with his family. Howard was a member of the Seminole Church of Christ. Howard is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Talhia Vanlandingham of Seminole, two sons, Howard Duane Vanlandingham and his wife Dawn of Bay Point, California, and Vince Vanlandingham and his wife LaDonna of Seminole, Oklahoma, two daughters Tari Thomas and Tami Horn both of Granbury, Texas, four brothers and their spouses, Charles and Judy Vanlandingham of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Burl  and Barbara Vanlandingham, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, David and Kaye Vanlandingham of Savannah, Texas and Leonard and Sherry Vanlandingham of Baxter Springs, Kansas, two sisters; Pauline and Paul Rooker of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Mary Littleton of Tecumseh, Oklahoma and a sister-in-law, Ann Vanlandingham of Seminole, Oklahoma, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Howard was preceded in death by his parents,  Alvie and Fay Vanlandingham, brothers James Vanlandingham, and Joe Fred Vanlandingham, daughter, Toni Allison, brother-in-law Charles Littleton and son-in-law Larry Thomas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Church of Christ, located at 12040 Highway 99N, in Seminole, Oklahoma, across from Enviro System. Chris Stinnett will officiate the service. Burial will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be Vince Vanlandingham, Howard Duane Vanlandingham, Ben Vanlandingham, Tyler Crandall, Jeremy Thomas, Allan Cheateaux. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
