H.O. Griffin

June 7, 1936 — April 24, 2013

H.O. Griffin, 76 years old, was called home to God on Wednesday, April 24, 2013.  He was born in Konawa on June 7, 1936 to Hugh and Minnie (Culpepper) Griffin. H.O. attended Vamoosa High School and Murray State College.  He was a Staff Sergeant in the Oklahoma National Guard and was also a veteran of the Desert Storm Gulf War.  During his time in the service, H.O. earned the Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (second award), Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon; he retired at the age of 60 years old.  He worked as a Bookkeeper for Seminole County. He was also a member of the Assembly of God Church locate in Bowlegs, Oklahoma.  On June 11, 1965 in Harden City, Oklahoma he married the apple of his eye, Doris Lee Griffin (Davis).  God had blessed them with 47 beautiful blissful years together. H.O. was a kind hearted, peaceful and humble man.  He was often seen with a smile on face and a cup of coffee in his hand. He loved God and enjoyed spending his time with family, his dog Jessie Joe, and looking at his John Deere collection in his home.  H.O. is survived by his wife Doris; two brothers, Bob and his wife Wanda Griffin of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Rube and his wife Mary Griffin of Konawa, Oklahoma.  Other survivors include several nieces and nephews, and host of other family and friends. His parents, one brother Bill Griffin of Cushing, Oklahoma and a sister Richadean Jackson of Heavener, Oklahoma was preceded him in death. A celebration of life service for H.O. Griffin will be at 10:30 a.m., on April 29, 2013 at Bowlegs Assembly of God Church located in Bowlegs, Oklahoma.  Interment will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery with military honors.  Pallbearers are Fred Carpenter, Thomas Billings, Rob Robertson, Tommy Mackey, Dewayne Gillham, and Lee Hughes.  Honorary pallbearers are Jack Russell, Gale Hughes, Randy Wassom, and Ron Plank. I would like to acknowledge everyone’s acts of kindness to me from the prayers, visits, cards, food, and lovely flower arrangements.  I would also like to say a special thanks to Ladies of the Assembly of God Church for their delicious meals.  The comforting celebrating of life service by Rev. Roy Robertson has touched my heart.  Everyone has been kind to me and I appreciate everyone. God Bless you all.
