Herman Elliott

Herman Luther Elliott, 84 year old Seminole, Oklahoma resident, was promoted to Glory, Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital North in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He was born November 20, 1932 in Seminole to parents Frank Austin Elliott and Lena “Othelia” (Partain) Elliott.      Herman served in the United States Army from 1948 until 1954 earning the rank of Corporal.      On April 28, 1974 Herman married Dorothy Marie (Whittet) Peterman in Arizona.      Herman had worked as a logger in California, he also worked harvesting wheat and barley.  He then worked for the railroad in Texas before returning to Oklahoma in the late 1960’s where he worked for the County with heavy equipment and construction.      Herman was a member of Hilltop Freewill Baptist Church in Wewoka.  He had a deep love for his family and was always a good provider.  He was very kind hearted and loved being around children, animals, cutting up and laughing with everyone he crossed paths with.      Herman is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Herman Lee Elliott and his wife Salle of Rancho Cordova, California; four sisters, Juanita Merriman of Yakima, Washington, Frances Holman and her husband John of Yakima, Washington, Rosie Phillips and her husband Leroy of Yakima, Washington, Bree Durham and her husband Ed of Yakima, Washington; 4 grandchildren, Chuck Ollar and his wife Sheri, Alexis Ashlock, James Elliott and his wife Jenifer, Torri Gathers and her husband Ryan; 7 great-grandchildren, Andrew Ollar, Mason Ollar, Gracelynne Ollar, Logan Elliott, Devon Seybert, Katelyn Seybert, Jenna Seybert; and a host of other family and dear friends.      Herman is preceded in death by his father, Frank Austin Elliott, who died when Herman was one year old, by his mother Lena “Othelia” (Partain) Elliott Durham, by his wife Dorothy Marie (Whittet) Peterman Elliott who died March 30, 1997, one son Steven Ray Elliott, by one daughter Mary Ruth Ashlock, by 5 brothers Emit Lee Elliott, Horace Austin Elliott, Clyde “Bill” Durham, James Durham, Markus Durham, by one sister Pauline Hunter, by two grandchildren Donna Ashlock and Tracy Ashlock.      Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with military honors, Rev. Russell Ryker will officiate the service.  Interment will follow at Holdenville Cemetery in Holdenville, Oklahoma.      Casket Bearers will be: David Lee Elliott, David Ray Elliott, Mitch Davis, Andrew Ollar, Darren Gregory and Gary Elliott.      Honorary Bearers will be: Danny Elliott, Brandon Davis, Mike Brown, Preston Froula and Loren Merriman.      Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
