Herbert Eugene Collins, 77 year-old, longtime Seminole resident passed from this life Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Seminole Medical Center. He was born April 2, 1935 in Ozark, Arkansas to parents Margaret (Ragsdale) Collins and Herbert Collins. Herbert served in the United States Army where he obtained the rank of Private 2nd Class. He earned the OCC Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. On November 10, 1965 he married Mabel Burchfield in Seminole County, Oklahoma. Herbert worked as a driver for Al Johnson’s Taxi Cab Service in Seminole until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Salvation Army Baptist Church where he had been active for several years. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Mary Brawdy of Seminole, Oklahoma, one daughter, Vicki Osborn of Seminole, Oklahoma, three grandchildren, Rhonda Lewis, Rebecca Hart and Robin Leahy, six great-grandchildren, Jordan, Kaylee, Cameron, Blaine, Carly and Gracelynn. Other dear family and friends also survive Herbert. Herbert is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Margaret Collins and by his wife, Mabel (Burchfield) Collins who died October 23, 2006. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 11, 2012 at Little Cemetery in Seminole County, Oklahoma with Military Honors. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate the service.
