Henry Lee “Red” Throckmorton, 74 year-old Seminole resident passed from this life Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Seminole Integris Medical Center. He was born January 27, 1937 in Rising Star, Texas to parents Albert Leon Throckmorton and Florry Elizabeth (Powell) Throckmorton. Mr. Throckmorton grew up in Eldorado, Kansas where he attended school. He worked as a carpenter for many years in several states including Florida, New Mexico, Kansas and Oklahoma. He married Elizabeth Ann “Liz” (Boss) Throckmorton on February 12, 1967 in Tatum, New Mexico. The couple moved to Seminole in 1980 when he began working for Seminole Public Schools then later for Pleasant Grove Schools from 1996 to 1998 where he worked in maintenance and also drove a school bus until his retirement. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Ann “Liz” (Boss) Throckmorton of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Wayne Throckmorton and his wife Deann of Borger, Texas, Adam Lee Throckmorton and his wife Elizabeth of Hickory, North Carolina, George Eugene Throckmorton and his wife Carol of Altoona, Kansas, Nicky Dewayne Throckmorton and his wife Michelle of Colby, Kansas; daughters and son-in-law, Yvonne Dorris of Russell, Kansas, Lisa Duran and her husband Tony of Sacramento, California; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Varner and her husband Ray of Towanda, Kansas, Deloris Gillespie of Clearwater, Kansas, Katy Throckmorton of Holdenville, Oklahoma and Shirley Davis of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and dear friends. Mr. Throckmorton is preceded in death by his Father, Albert Leon Throckmorton; by his mother, Florry Elizabeth (Powell) Throckmorton; one brother; three half brothers; and by two half sisters. Memorial services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church located at the corner of 7th & Mekusukey in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole, Oklahoma. Rev. Jim Coone will officiate the service.
