Henry “Jack” Terry, age 81 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 27th at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Richard Winters will officiate, and burial will follow at Konawa Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Boren, Rube Griffin, Darrell Mackey, Bob Thomas, Randy Walker, and Mike Stapleton. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Harrod, Tom B. Longest, Lillard Berry, and Burnis Fisher. The family will greet friends and relatives on Tuesday night at the Konawa funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Jack was born on May 16, 1932, in Dallas, Texas. His parents were Jack Terry and Susie (Morgan) Terry. Jack spent his childhood in the oilfield in Oscar, Oklahoma in Jefferson County. He attended school in Oscar until the seventh grade. While our nation was at war in 1942, all schools participated in scrap-drives. Jack’s school had the most pounds per student of all the Oklahoma schools. Jack was selected to represent his school and the State of Oklahoma by taking a trip to Washington, D.C. to meet Franklin D. Roosevelt and to christen the Liberty ship, USS Will Rogers along with Mrs. Will Rogers. Jack’s family eventually moved to Saint Jo, Texas to another oilfield. He graduated high school in 1950 and worked as a roughneck in the summer for Kingery Drilling Company. He started college at Oklahoma A&M and majored in petroleum engineering. In 1952, he changed his major to Geology, and in 1953, he was offered a job as Junior Engineer for Dowell Inc. After graduating in 1954 from Oklahoma A&M with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geology and a minor in Petroleum Engineering, Jack started work as a trainee engineer for Dowell Inc. in Seminole, Oklahoma. He was promoted to District Engineer in 1958. In the next few years, he obtained a patent pending for a hydraulic brake device, and he learned to fly an airplane. Jack started the only frac tank business in Oklahoma in 1958 and pursued this business until establishing an oil and gas well stimulation company in 1971. Since 1971, Jack purchased and drilled oil wells. During the early 1980's, Jack worked much of his time in geology in the consulting business. He was also the President and General Manager of Chem-Frac, Inc., in Ada, Oklahoma. On April 10, 1994 in Konawa, Jack married Glenda (Anderson) Moon. He was also a member of the Church of Christ in Konawa. Jack is survived by his wife, Glenda Terry of the home; one son, Mike Terry and wife, Patty of Edmond, Oklahoma; one step-daughter, Tina Moon of Shawnee, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Michelle Webster and husband, Aaron of Edmond, Oklahoma and Melissa Terry, also of Edmond, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Jackson and Tyler Moon; one great grandchild, Lily Grace Webster; his in-laws, Evert and Lillian Anderson; and several nieces and nephews whom he considered family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Susie Terry; one son, Keith Terry; one step-son, Steve Moon; and sister-in-law, Nelda Bailey.
