Longtime Seminole resident Henry David Kimmel, age 88, died Sunday, June 15, 2008 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Henry was born August 16, 1919, in Topeka, Kansas to Louis Henry and Margaret(Edmonds) Kimmel.rnrnHenry met and married Ann Elizabeth Millsaps on June 25, 1940 in Ada, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death on December 2, 1999, after 59 years of marriage.rnrnHenry was an educator for the most of his working career. He taught for many years, teaching Chemistry and Algegra and was the Principal at Seminole High School for many years and also superintendant of schools at Woodland Schools and Bowlegs Public Schools. rnrnHenry served two years in the U.S. Army, as a Master Sergeant during the Korean War.rnHe was an avid golfer and was the coach for the Seminole High School Golf Team and led them to three state championships. The Oklahoma Coaches Association awared Henry the honor of " Golf Coach of the Year " for the 1979-1980 school year. In 1982, the National Coaches Association presented him with the " District Coach of the Year" award. rnrnHenry is survived by his daughter, Margaret Ledgerwood of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, One son and daughter-in-law: Steve and Sammie Kimmel of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, two granddaughters: Dawn Yandell and her husband Lonnie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Chasidy Kimmel of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and four great grandchildren.rnrnHenry was also preceded in death by his son David Kimmel in 1997.rnrnServices for Mr. Kimmel are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.rnrnCasket bearers will be, Bruce Robertson, Matt Atyia, Brent Benn, Russ Wood, Guy Austin, Jay Doudican , John Sharpe and Mike Wood. Honorary bearers will be Chris Clark, Don Clark and John Randolph.rnrnThe family would like to thank Elisa, Jeanie and Michelle of Good Shepherd Hopsice for their outstanding care for our Dad.
