Henry “Sam” Samuel Baxter, Jr., longtime former Seminole county resident, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 58 years. Sam was born May 28, 1954 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Henry Samuel and Wanda Oleta (Wilson) Baxter.  He attended Fanshawe, Wister and Duke Public Schools. Sam graduated from Carl Albert College in Poteau with an Associate’s Degree. Sam enjoyed working on cars, fishing and camping. He was a handyman and helped out at Little Cemetery.  He enjoyed cutting up with his nephews and giving them a hard time. Sam is survived by his parents, Henry and Wanda Baxter of Little; four sisters, JoEllen Shoop and husband Robert of Spiro, Oklahoma, Janis Lindley and husband Clifford of Horntown, OK, Beverley Baxter-Smith of Meeker, Oklahoma, and Tammie Baxter of Little, Oklahoma; one niece, Sheila Morton; five nephews, Rodney Smith, Rusty Smith, Wes Lindley, Justin Shoop and Michael Lindley; numerous great-nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Chesser officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Rodney Smith, Rusty Smith, Wes Lindley, Justin Shoop, Michael Lindley and Wes Morton. Honorary casket bearer will be Mike Harris.
