Helen Colbert a lifelong Seminole county resident passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 84 years. Helen was born on November 21, 1924 at Seminole, Oklahoma to parents John Wolf  and Lizzie (Johnson) Kernel. She graduated from Prairie View High School on May 21, 1943. She was a homemaker and very active in her church the Wewoka Indian “Hill Top” Presbyterian, serving in several departments. Helen married Robert Colbert, Sr. in the Colbert home, Robert preceded her in death on August 10, 1995. Also preceding her in death are her parents; John and Lizzie Kernell, daughter, Marylou (Colbert) Factor, brothers, Eugene, Simeon and Julius Kernell and sisters Leister Fife, Lula Jones, Bessie Walker. Helen is survived by sons, Don and his wife Deloris Colbert of El Reno, Oklahoma, Robert Colbert, Jr. of Wewoka, Oklahoma and daughter Candy and her husband Marion Palmore of Buna, Texas. She is survived by brother Bob Kernell of Bowlegs, Oklahoma, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A wake service for Helen will be Monday, October 26 at 6:00 p.m. at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Tuesday October 27 at 4:00 p.m. she will be taken to her home for a wake service at 6:00 p.m.. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 28 at 10:00 a.m. at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Jimboy officiating.
