Hazel McCanless

Hazel E. (Sims) McCanless, 97 year-old, longtime Seminole County resident passed from this life Friday, May 6, 2011 at Seminole Care and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born February 18, 1914 in Seminole County to parents Charles H. Sims and Bessie (Moody) Sims. Following her graduation from High School, Hazel went on to further her education at Oklahoma State.  She then worked for J.C. Penny in Illinois for 11 years and later taught school in Seminole County, Oklahoma. Survivors include one son, James Leroy McCanless and one daughter, Dana Forth. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Church of Christ in Little, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
