Hays Furgerson

Hays “Eugene” Furgerson, also known as “Furgy”, age 65 and a former resident of Asher, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Shawnee Care Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma.  Burial will follow at Wanette Cemetery.  Edward Cagle will officiate.  Pallbearers are Richard Beggs, Berry Beggs, Terry Sloan, Billy Noland, Scooter Noland, and Ricky Crouch. Eugene was born on December 18, 1948 in Stockton, California to Cassie Hays Furgerson and Nettie (Matthews) Furgerson.  He moved to Asher, Oklahoma at the age of seven.  He was a janitor for the New Horizon Nursing Home of Konawa, and he was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Asher.  Eugene loved to go fishing. Eugene is survived by his former wife, Susan Furgerson of Chandler, Oklahoma; one son, James Furgerson and wife, Donna of Chandler; two daughters, Terri Gillian and husband, Lonnie of Chandler, and Carrie Sloan and husband, Terry of Shawnee; two sisters, Wanda Faught of Stockton, California, and Francis Beggs of Weatherford, Texas; and six grandchildren.
