Harold Ellison

Harold Ray Ellison, 72 year old longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at his home in Seminole County, Oklahoma.  Harold was born September 27, 1942 in Seminole to parents, Opal Faye (Steward) Ellison and Ray K. Ellison. Harold grew up in Holdenville, Oklahoma and following High School graduation, he went on to earn a degree in drafting and engineering, from OSU.  He also served in the United States Army Reserve for four years. On August 3, 1968 Harold married Kathy Sheppard in Plano, Texas.  The couple moved to Seminole in 1972 from Plano, Texas where Harold had been working in drafting and engineering.  After the couple moved to Seminole they owned and operated Seminole Florist for 28 years. The couple are members of the Bowlegs Methodist Church.  Following their retirement the couple enjoyed traveling, and volunteering at the Interfaith Food Pantry. Survivors include Harold’s wife of 46 years, Kathy Ellison of the home; two sisters-in-law, Bette Perry and her husband Ron of Tyler, Texas, Ginger Taylor of Mexia, Texas; two brothers-in-law, Gene Slaughter of Kaufman, Texas, Bob Sheppard and his wife Nedda of Troup, Texas; and a host of other family and dear friends. Harold is preceded in death by his father, Ray K. Ellison and by his mother Opal Fay Ellison.  He is also preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2015 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel located in Seminole, Oklahoma.  Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens located on Hwy, 270 east of Seminole, OK.   Pastor Susan Rice will officiate the service. Casket Bearers will be: Tom Yerby, Jeff Yerby, Buzz Gillespie, Ed Bender, Harley Howard, and Bill Taylor. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
