Hansel H. Harper, 93 Long time Seminole county resident, Hansel H. Harper passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Seminole, Oklahoma at the age of 93. Hansel was born on May 15, 1919 in Bilby, Oklahoma, which is located in Hughes county to parents J.T. Harper and Iva (Woodward) Harper. Hansel was an oil field truck superintendent, building drilling locations; he worked for Stephens Production and Guy Nall Trucking. He was a rancher in Arkansas and then in Seminole when he moved back. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, American Legion, NRA and a member of the Free Will Baptist Church. Work was his hobby. He also enjoyed dancing and working cattle. Hansel loved to live life to its fullest. He served in the United States Army as a sergeant during World War Il; he was a Purple Heart recipient and the Combat Infantryman Badge for intense face to face combat with the enemy. Hansel married Opal Alemeda Buscher on March 16, 1940, in St. Charles, Missouri. Opal Buscher Harper preceded him in death on January 29, 1995. His two sons, Mark Harper and his wife Ann Harper of Seminole, Oklahoma and Dean Harper of Seminole, Oklahoma, his daughter and son-in-law Suzanne and Jerry Watkins of Seminole, Oklahoma and a sister Loreice Barton of Tucson, Arizona, survive Mr. Harper. Six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive him. His parents, his wife Opal, a son Gary Harper and a sister Wynema Cupp, preceded him in death. Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 24, 2012 at the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
