Gwneth Anita (Barrett) Brewer

Gwneth Anita (Barrett) Brewer, age 81 and a former resident of Maud, Oklahoma, left this world for her eternal reward on Friday, January 19, 2018 at her home in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the Church of Christ in Konawa.  Frank Brewer will officiate and burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.  Casket bearers are Luke Brewer, Jacob Brewer, Justin Brewer, Marshal Brewer, Andrew Siemer, and Joshua Mullins.  The family will receive guests Monday, January 22nd from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, Oklahoma. Gwneth “Gwen” was born March 19, 1936 in Seminole County between Sasakwa and Konawa, Oklahoma, at the family home to Otha Thomas Barrett and Vita Mary (Beauchamp) Barrett.  She grew up and graduated from Vamoosa High School.  She married Frank Brewer on December 4, 1956 in Konawa, Oklahoma. Early in her marriage, Gwen was a successful hair dresser and later worked as a school librarian.  However, most of her life was devoted to being a homemaker and providing for her large family and the many visitors who shared their table.  The Brewer home was always busy with the family, friends, foster children, and the occasional wayward child or passing stranger.  No one left hungry.  She was an excellent cook.  Her family favorites included “mock tacos” and chocolate gravy.  She and Frank served several churches of Christ over their 61 years of marriage including Asher, Bokchita, Caddo, Fitztown, Coalgate, Tupelo, and Maud.  She was a faithful helper to Frank in his ministry. She is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Frank Brewer of the home; three sons, David Brewer and wife, Stephanie of Newalla, Oklahoma, Kenneth Brewer of Seminole, Oklahoma, and Mark Brewer of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Zina Siemer and husband, Michael of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Angelia Klaproth of Fontana, California; three brothers, Glen Barrett and wife, Janet of Ada, Oklahoma, Bob Barrett and wife, Belle of Ada, Oklahoma, and Ricky Barrett and wife, Barbara of Sasakwa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Linda Wood of Konawa, and Nancy Riggle and husband Bill of Konawa; twelve grandchildren, Elizabeth Mullins and husband, Josh, Luke Brewer and wife, Samantha, Jacob Brewer and wife, Krystin, Justin Brewer, Alyxandra Siemer, Kendra Brewer, Andrew Siemer, Marshal Brewer, Tony Mayn, Tyler Mayn, Hailey Klaproth, and honorary granddaughter, Yui Takahashi; great grandchildren, Corban, Landice, and Hayden Mullins, Daniel, Abigael, Isaac, and Asher Brewer, Natalie and Elliott Brewer, and Isaiah Mayn; foster children, Gary Davis and Linda Grant.   She was preceded in death by her parents, Otha and Vita Barrett; and grandsons, David Ryan Brewer, and Dalton Mayn.
