Glenn Howard Porter, 78, of Van Buren Arkansas, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Glenn was born on April 20, 1940 in Quapaw, Oklahoma to Howard Lee Porter and Opal (Cowan) Porter. Glenn grew up in Quapaw, Oklahoma and attended Quapaw Schools and his junior year moved to Wyandotte, Oklahoma where he graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1958. Glenn later attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma where he graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology. Glenn worked for 29 years for the Bayer Corporation as a sales representative in their animal pharmaceutical division selling to veterinary hospitals. At one point in his career he served as regional manager for the company and retired in 1999. After his retirement Glenn bought an RV and he and his wife Connie enjoyed many fun years traveling around the country. Glenn loved anything with his family, especially family reunions, because he was a “Family Man”. Glenn played golf with his clients, loved being on the computer playing online games, watching his favorite television shows; Duck Dynasty, American Pickers, OU Football and Dallas Cowboy’s Football and his dogs, Susie Q, Zipper, Peanuts, Sugar Bear and Casper. Glenn was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Quapaw, Oklahoma. Glenn married Connie (Keener) Porter on November 8, 1980 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and they enjoyed 38 wonderful years together. Glenn is survived by his wife Connie Porter of Van Buren, Arkansas, three daughters; Tammy Porter and Sheri Thompson of Euless, Texas, Terri Cauthon and Brad of Earlsboro, Oklahoma and Tonya Wesley and Steve of Collinsville, Oklahoma; his brother Edward Porter and his wife Mary Lou of Frisco, Texas, his grandchildren Bradley, Kelli, Nicole and Alicia and his great grandchildren; Aubrey, Ferris, Ashlyn, Dalton, Gracie and Caden. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Don Porter and Norman Porter and sister Shirley Mullen. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma, with Adam Glombowski officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Brad Cauthon, Steve Wesley, Dustin Peace, Bradley Curtis, Adam Glombowski and Zach Martin. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and friends at the Hope’s Creek Retirement Center in Van Buren, Arkansas.
