Gladys Marie Pearson, 91, Choctaw, Oklahoma resident, passed away, Wednesday, January 24, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Gladys was a longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident. She was born April 7, 1926 in Arbeka, Oklahoma near Boley, Oklahoma, to her parents, Eli Watkins and Fadtra (Louie) Watkins Downing. Gladys worked for Blue Bell Plant (now Wrangler) as a cutter in the sewing department, from 1969 to 1989. Gladys graduated from Shawnee High School, and loved reading, puzzles, being with her grandchildren, cooking, sewing, quilting, in which all grandchildren had one of her quilts. Gladys is survived by her three daughters; Phyllis Simpkins of Seminole, Oklahoma, Irene Holland of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Mildred Smith of Choctaw, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren , twenty-one great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, fourteen siblings, one son, grandson, and a great great grandson. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ernest Jackson, Jr. and Rev. Marcellas Fields officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, in Seminole, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be Aaron Cooks, Derrick Cooks, Marcus Pearson, Thai Smith, Tyrus Smith, Vandell Downing.
