Longtime Seminole resident Gladys Marie Farmer passed away at Seminole Estates Nursing Center on December 20, 2007 at the age of 88.rnrnGladys was born November 20, 1919 at Bald Hill, Oklahoma, to Tom and Cora Nelon, who are both deceased. She was a graduate of Sasakwa High School. She married Dick Townsend and had one son, Bobby. Dick was traveling home to be with her from his job site when he had a tragic accident killing him and leaving Gladys a widow at an early age. She later married Lee Farmer of Atoka and had three more children. Gladys and Lee went to California where they owned a dairy from 1946 until she came back to Oklahoma in 1988. Lee preceded her in death.rnrnSince returning to Oklahoma, she was active in the Baptist Church and had many friends with whom she loved to play Spades.rnrnShe is survived by four children, Sons, Bob Townsend of Coeur d?Alene, Idaho, Leroy Farmer of Wenatchee, Washington, Jerry Farmer of Seminole, Oklahoma and a Daughter Kathy Lewis of Amsterdam, Missouri. She had 12 grandchildren , 10 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.rnrnShe is also survived by one brother, Cecil Nelon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and three sisters Polly Patterson of Lodi, California and Jo Marquis and Peggy Jackson both of Seminole, Oklahoma. Gladys was preceded in death by a brother Dale Nelon and one sister Elena Tuttle.rnrnGladys was a fun loving, generous person and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Gladys suffered the loss of her speech after suffering a stroke in 1995 and was lovingly called Ge Ge by the caring staff at Pioneer Nursing Home and Seminole Estates.rnrnFuneral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Little Cemetery.
