Gilbert Allen Barros

Gilbert Allen Barros, age 71 and a former resident of Konawa, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Shattuck Nursing Home in Shattuck, Oklahoma. A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10th at the First Baptist Church by the Shattuck Nursing Home.  Burial followed at Dora Cemetery in Konawa, Oklahoma at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 11th under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa.  At a later date, Gilbert will be transported to Rest Hills Memorial Park in N. Little Rock to be buried beside his mother and father. Gilbert was born on January 8, 2011 to Dorothy (Fischer) and Wayne Barros in Detroit, Michigan.  He lived at New Horizon Nursing Home in Konawa and was later transferred to Shattuck Nursing Home.  Gilbert will be remembered for his love of trains, and he will be greatly missed by the staff and members of Shattuck Nursing Home and by his brother. Gilbert is survived by his brother, Robert Barros of Little Rock,  Arkansas. And, he was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Dorothy Barros.
